Graham use artistic license at Victoria Primary School

Feb 2008

Graham has been making a mark at Victoria Primary School, Ballyhalbert, with the help of the pupils and local youth groups.

As part of the design and construction of the new school, Graham has commissioned local artists to help the pupils paint an education orientated graffiti style mural on the site hoardings adjacent to the existing school.

This initiative is part of Graham’s ongoing involvement in the Considerate Constructor scheme, part of which encourages contractors to interact with local communities adjacent to large construction projects.

Keith Patrick, Projects Manager for Graham on the Victoria Primary School project, was responsible for commissioning the artwork. He commented, ‘An initiative like this is a positive thing for all concerned as it allows the children and teachers to feel that they are very involved in the construction process from an early stage. It allows them to take ownership of the project’

Alison Campbell, Principal of Victoria Primary School added, ‘The children thoroughly enjoyed this. The teachers and particularly the parents are very appreciative that Graham has involved the school so much during the entire process.’

Victoria Primary School, due for completion in May 2008, is one of a number of schools that Graham is currently constructing throughout the UK and Ireland and has been very positively assessed by the Considerate Constructor scheme to date.
