Highway Management Maintenance (HMM) operate and maintain motorway and trunk road infrastructure.
MAJOR MAINTENANCE
HMM acts as a Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) to manage the pavement and structures major maintenance on large projects.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
HMM is responsible for all routine maintenance, including gully emptying and grass verge cutting. Overhead gantries and hardware for the communications system are maintained by carrying out sign cleaning, routine structural maintenance, electrical supply and emergency responses.
WINTER MAINTENANCE
Specialised Ice Stations together with the use of the Meteorological Office for winter forecasting ensures that high capacity gritters specifically designed for motorway maintenance, are effectively focused to keep the roads open during adverse winter conditions.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT (TTM)
All Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) is carried out by HMM using trained staff and specialised equipment to Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
SAFETY PATROLS AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Daily safety patrols identify any visible defects which can be either repaired immediately using emergency kits or allocated to work crews. HMM operate a 24/7 emergency response team, responding to reports or complaints from the police, the general public etc., or in response to extreme diverse weather conditions.
INSPECTION SERVICES
Inspections are carried out for all structures on a cyclical basis using specialised equipment and trained staff.
