Strengthening works to replace existing corroded wrought iron structural members supporting the bridge deck with new structural steel members.
Scope of works included the removal and replacement of crown beams, bracing repairs, spandrel pillar replacement and repairs to cast iron parapets.
All structural works were carried out at night under lane closure to reduce traffic loading during removal of structural elements. Works were carried out during the day to remove the existing paint and rust and to apply a new paint system for corrosion protection.
