Executive Programme Funding Flood Alleviation
Northern, Southern & Western Divisions
This was an 18 month NEC ECC Option “C” Contract for design, construction and commissioning of sewage infrastructure solutions to address out of manhole flooding in Northern, Western and Southern Divisions, involving 23 work packages stretching from Londonderry to Newry. Work packages ranged in value from £30k - £2.5m.
The Planning and Programme Management covered all stages on the Contract including:
• Receive Scope
• Site Survey and Enabling Works – either done by us, or scoped by us, and undertaken by sub-contractor
• Outline Design by our designer
• Outline Design Approval
• Preparation and agreement of Target Cost based on tendered Schedule of Rates
• Pre Construction activities including:-
o Moleseye Notifications
o Customer/Public Liaison by mail drops and door to door visits
o Traffic Management Plans following liaison with Roads Service and PSNI Traffic Branch
• Construction, including reinstatements
• Provision of site information to our designer for “As Built” Drawings
• “As Constructed Drawings” and other information for H & S file.
18.5km of pipelines were installed in rural and urban environments, including gravity sewers, rising mains and water mains by various techniques:
• Open cut (10,181m)
• Directional drilling (7,511m)
• Pipe bursting (573m)
• Micro tunnelling (350m)
• Auger boring (35m – under the railway)
Pipe materials included PE, uPVC and concrete. The diameters varied from 125mm to 1500mm.
Works progressed on the ground on up to five different locations, with enabling works and design works progressing concurrently.
