Improvements and Maintenance to Structures

This framework contract involves the implementation of structural maintenance and improvement solutions on a number of structures in Roads Service’s Northern division.

There are over 1300 structures within the area, with improvement schemes to lengthen the service life, and repairs due to vehicle accidents, flooding events etc. We successfully delivered 130 such schemes in the preceding term Contract (2003-2008).

Garron Point

We were recently called in to help reopen the Antrim Coast Road after a rock fall at Garron Point. The road was closed to both vehicles and pedestrians while a specialist rope access sub-contractor abseiled down the cliff face to clear loose material which had slipped but not yet fallen onto the road below. Debris was then removed from the road before reopening. January 2010, 1 Day, Emergency Response Work. We were subsequently tasked with completing works to install wire netting and rock bolts to the cliff and employed a consultant to assist in site investigations and design works. A specialist subcontractor was appointed to complete the works: rock bolts, rock fall protection netting and scaling of loose rockface using IRATA trained rope access technicians.
