N52 Tullamore Bypass

This project involved the design and construction of 15km of 7.5m and 10m wide single carriageway bypassing the rural town of Tullamore, incorporating a total of 13 at-grade junctions.
The project involved the construction of 6 bridges including crossings of the Grand Canal, Clodiagh and Silver Rivers and the Dublin - Athlone Railway line. Bridge substructures were typically insitu concrete with H pile foundations, and precast beams superstructure.
The project included construction of a temporary 30m span Bailey bridge crossing the Grand Canal.
The project was opened 10 months ahead of programme by the Taoiseach, Brian Cowan.
