Reservoir Rehabilitation Framework

The purpose of the works is to prevent external ingress to tanks, prevent leakage from the tank and deterioration of concrete faces in order to provide protection to water quality at these locations.  The remedial work has been undertaken at a number of sites simultaneously and carried out in individual cells at Northern Ireland Water’s operational service reservoirs.

The contract primarily comprises:

• Cleaning of reservoirs
• Inspection of structures/Testing of concrete
• Surveying of concrete
• Preparation of concrete surfaces
• Joint sealing to all construction and expansion joints to internal faces of floor slabs and walls by the application of flexible waterproof bandages
• Joint sealing to all external faces of roof structures
• Various concrete patch repairs to all surfaces inclusive of localized reinforcement repair.
• Provision and application of DWI approved waterproof coatings to protect various internal concrete surfaces
• Provision and application of waterproofing to external roof structures
• Application of sprayed waterproof coatings
• Provision and laying of a geocomposite drainage layer to external roof structures
• Replacement of ladders
• Stripping, storing and replacing of soil and slabs to buried structures
• Reinstatement of soil or other roof coverings and surrounding area soiled areas of the reservoir site including any existing landscaping.
• Replacement or repair of defective reservoir pipework and other metalwork.
• Testing and filling of the reservoirs in instances where work has been completed internally and bringing the reservoirs back online.
