Cumbrian Nuclear Team Praised in National Initiative
Partnership hailed ‘a credit to the industry’ by Considerate Constructors Scheme.
A partnership between the LLWR (Low Level Waste Repository) and GRAHAM Construction has been hailed as a “credit to the company and the industry”.
The Engineering, Design and Construction Framework was highlighted by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), a national scheme.
LLWR, at Drigg, was independently assessed and particular attention was paid to its community engagement, environment and workforce safety.
The Constructors Scheme chose to look at infrastructure programmes at nuclear licensed sites. LLWR has undergone major construction projects over the previous 12 months and has several planned for the next few years.
Tom Lawson, CCS monitor, who visited the site, said: “This project continues to achieve a very high level of overall compliance with the scheme’s code of considerate practice and is a credit to the company and the industry.”
During the assessment, the repository’s ecological and waste management issues were praised.
