GRAHAM celebrates success at Construction Excellence Awards

Three projects, four awards with project at Ulster Hospital named as 'overall winner'.

GRAHAM Construction is celebrating success after winning four accolades at the Construction Excellence Awards, hosted by the Construction Employers Federation (CEF).

The highlight of the night was the GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership winning the Overall Award for its work on the £85 million Inpatient Ward Block at the Ulster Hospital. This is an award given to the entry that best exemplifies excellence in construction. The judging panel were particularly impressed with how the project was managed, from the way the subcontractors were procured to the creation of detailed traffic management plans. The judges commented that “GRAHAM-BAM’s approach to the project ensured that the design quality, build quality and continuous consideration of buildability led to the creation of a world-class healthcare facility, while setting the tone and quality threshold for future healthcare projects.”

Other wins included the Health Infrastructure Award for the Ulster Hospital, the Fit-Out Award for Dunnes Stores, Forestside Shopping Centre, Belfast, and the GB & Republic of Ireland Construction Award for GRAHAM Lagan Construction Group’s Joint Venture on Green Port Hull, East Yorkshire.

The Construction Excellence Awards were launched in 1999. Since then, they have become the premier event in the Northern Ireland construction calendar, providing an opportunity to recognise the achievements of the local construction industry and to publicise the substantial contribution that the industry makes to the local economy and society in Northern Ireland.

Michael Graham, Executive Chairman at GRAHAM said: “It is a significant honour to receive this level of recognition for our work. To win four awards is a huge achievement, and we are very proud of everyone involved in making these projects a success and setting a benchmark for the industry.”
