Nuclear team hits new heights
Exceptional score from Considerate Constructors Scheme highlights innovation.
The GRAHAM team at the Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) have received an exceptional report from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), in recognition of driving continual improvement through innovative practice.
LLWR is the UK's low-level radioactive waste repository located on the West Cumbrian coast at Drigg village.
The project team gained one of the top CCS scores across the UK this year, scoring an impressive 46, with the highlight being an outstanding score of 10 for ‘Safety’ as a result of embedding an innovative culture of best practice towards securing safety.
The outstanding score is even more remarkable due to the nature of working on a nuclear site, which brings with it many limitations.
A wide range of initiatives is used to embed a culture of innovation. The team is encouraged to record and submit observations of innovation in a combined effort to drive continual improvement.
A delighted Steve Beattie, Contracts Director at GRAHAM, commented: “This score is a superb recognition of the performance and commitment of the entire project team. We are absolutely delighted with the result and look forward to achieving more success together in the future.”
