Ballygawley Waste Water Treatment Works (WwTW) is making significant strides with phase one of the project now complete.
Working on behalf of Northern Ireland Water the upgrade aims to modernise and expand the existing facilities to meet the growing needs of the local community.
Phase one of the project, which included the construction of new inlet works, primary and final settlement tanks, and a sludge holding tank, has been successfully completed. This milestone allowed for the diversion of wastewater flows from the old plant to the newly constructed infrastructure.
With phase two of the project underway, works will involve the demolition of the old treatment facility, the construction of a new trickling filter bed, the refurbishment of existing filter beds, and further mechanical and electrical works. Additionally, permanent site surfacing and landscaping will be carried out to enhance the overall appearance of the facility.
The redevelopment is a vital investment in the community, ensuring the provision of high-quality wastewater treatment services.
