We were delighted to learn that our project Crossrail WP2 has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the Considerate Constructors Scheme in recognition of the sites’ high standards.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is a not-for-profit, independent organisation founded in 1997, which aims to raise standards in the construction industry.

Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.

The Crossrail WP2 works form part of a Network Rail and TfL Agreement to provide step free access (new lifts, enclosed access bridges spanning platforms, associated building services installation, new platform canopies and improvements) to existing passenger circulation areas and concourses to three suburban stations on the GWR mainline out of Paddington (Acton Mainline, Ealing Broadway and West Ealing).

The main project office is located on an area of green open space outside Ealing Broadway Station with satellite offices located close to the other two stations.

Our site scores were particularly impressive, with four areas; Caring about Appearance, Protecting the environment, Securing everyone’s safety and Valuing our workforce scoring an ‘exceptional’ 9 out of 9, with Respect the Community also scoring an ‘excellent’ 8 out of 9.

A finding from the site’s CCS report stated that: “Based upon the photographic evidence provided the initial impression of this major development is exceptional and demonstrates a positive commitment from the whole project team to meet the very highest levels of industry best practice and Aims of the Scheme.”

On the award, Sandra Saxton, GRAHAM’s Social Impact Business Partner, said:

“It is fantastic to see Crossrail WP2 awarded a CCS Certificate of Excellence and testament to the hard work of the site and project team in maintaining such high standards across the sites.
“At GRAHAM we are proud partners of CCS and view the scheme as a bar for setting the standards needed to bring best practice to all of our projects and to deliver lasting impact to the communities we serve.”

We have enjoyed a long association with the Scheme and first registered with CCS in 1999 before securing Partner status in 2013.

We were also the first company in Northern Ireland to win a CCS National Award back in 2001 for the Europa Hotel Extension Project.

Works on Crossrail WP2 commenced in June 2019 with completion scheduled for mid-September 2021.
