Employee insights: Shellane Taps into Life as a Plumber image

Shellane Kinman was inspired by her female friend, a gas engineer, to pursue a career in plumbing, where no day is the same:

“Plumbing is a fast moving environment and a skill for life. There are so many more avenues and layers to plumbing than blocked pipework.”

Shellane became part of the GRAHAM Facilities Management team through a chance encounter with some of the GRAHAM team on the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol contract where GRAHAM FM were carrying out Term Maintenance Services.

Working as a cleaner at UWE to fund her college course in plumbing, GRAHAM offered Shellane a placement year, equipping her with the technical skills and expertise to complete her course and join the FM team.

“People are a little shocked when I say I am a qualified plumber but working for GRAHAM FM has been so rewarding and I love working with my team.”

GRAHAM is currently delivering a range of Hard FM services for a number of universities across the UK including the University of Leeds, Swansea University, University of Manchester and Dublin City University.
