GRAHAM Construction wins Major Contractor of the Year at 2017 Building Awards.

GRAHAM Construction has been named Major Contractor of the Year at the annual Building Awards, surpassing some of the industry’s biggest names to win one of the evening’s most prestigious prizes.

GRAHAM Construction is part of the GRAHAM Group, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading construction, asset management and project investment businesses. In the financial year ending April 2017, the company increased its turnover to £565 million, attained its highest ranking to date in The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 (number 16th) and achieved the coveted Investors in People Platinum standard.

Commenting on the award, Executive Chairman, Michael Graham said: “GRAHAM remains focused on its continued and sustainable growth, working collaboratively with clients and industry partners to successfully deliver lasting impact, value and innovation across a wide range of sectors and signature projects. We are delighted to have received this accolade, which comes towards the end of another highly successful year for the business. We continue to invest significantly in health and safety, BIM, digital construction, off-site manufacture and the wellbeing and development of our outstanding GRAHAM teams, whilst further enhancing the financial position of the company. It is the collective creativity and hard work of our 2,200 colleagues that has helped us get to where we are today.”

GRAHAM Construction currently boasts over 100 live construction locations across the UK and Ireland, with works spanning a range of signature healthcare, education, defence and civic projects. The portfolio includes a £150m partnership with Barnet Council to enhance education, community, leisure and operational assets across the borough, a £30m state-of-the-art Proton Beam facility within the Thames Valley Science Park in Reading, a new £134m Family Hospital and Cancer Treatment Centre for NHS Grampian in Aberdeen and a £100m ‘Schools for the Future’ programme for Dumfries and Galloway Council. The company also continues to extend its client base in interior fit-out across retail, shopping centre and office sectors, including Next, Debenhams and KPMG.

The ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Tuesday 7 November. It was hosted by comedians Katherine Ryan and Rory Bremner and attended by more than 1,200 people from across the construction industry. The Major Contractor category was open to companies in the UK with turnover of £300 million and above.
