Showcasing our ‘digital by default’ approach at Digital Construction Week image

It’s the favourite time of year for the Digital Construction Team at GRAHAM as our focus turns towards ‘Digital Construction Week – Innovation in the Built Environment’ which is just around the corner (17th/18th October).

This year we’ve been selected to deliver three presentations over the prestigious two-day event at ExCel London.

The event, dedicated to innovation and technology, is the perfect opportunity for GRAHAM to showcase the fantastic developments we’ve made over the last year as part of our ‘digital by default’ strategy.

Up first is our Technology Solutions in Action presentation, which will focus on the overall journey we have taken to incorporate digital technologies into our daily workflows.

From the 3D BIM Model to the final handover process, this presentation will provide the audience with an insight into how digital tools have revolutionised processes at GRAHAM.

This presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 17 in the Transformation Hub at 13.45 – 14.30 and will be presented by Shervin Yousefzadeh and Chris Millar, Digital Construction Co-ordinators.

Following the Digital Construction Awards the previous evening (we have been shortlisted for the Digital Transformation of the Year award), we will treat the audience to an in-depth talk on the journey taken from producing a point cloud model with laser scanning technology, to presenting the model in augmented reality (AR).

Taking place in the Visualisation Theatre on Wednesday, October 18 at 10.00 – 10.30am, Chris Millar, Digital Construction Co-ordinator (Building), will demonstrate how AR and point cloud models can be linked in order to deliver significant benefits to the construction environment.

Wrapping up what promises to be an exciting few days, our final presentation will explore virtual reality (VR). Focusing on the contractor’s perspective, the presentation will demonstrate how the Digital Construction Team at GRAHAM introduces VR to projects at various stages, to aid design and visualisation.

As well as understanding the application of virtual reality, the talk will explain how VR has benefitted our live projects with specific case studies explored in more detail.

This presentation will be delivered by Shervin Yousefzadeh, Digital Construction Co-ordinator (Civils), and will take place on Wednesday, October 18 at 13.30 – 14.00 in the Visualisation Theatre.
