GRAHAM Tops Out at Alexander Quay PBSA, Glasgow

The GRAHAM team were delighted to host a topping out ceremony on behalf of Unite Students at their 934-bed Central Quay property in Glasgow (to be known as Alexander Quay).

The £126 million, 21 storey development will complete for the start of the 2027/28 academic year and unlocks a long-term vacant site north of the River Clyde.

There are a mix of student room types on offer, including cluster flats and studios, which will help to ease Glasgow’s housing shortage by freeing up privately rented homes for local families.

The property is designed to support modern student living and includes a social marketplace cafe, yoga room, screen rooms and a garden room with terrace.

Chris MacLeod, Director at GRAHAM, said:

“Reaching topping out at Central Quay marks significant structural progress on a scheme that will deliver 934 much-needed student beds in Glasgow. The development brings a long-disused brownfield site back into service, and its BREEAM Excellent target sets a high sustainability standard for the build. Once complete, Central Quay will serve both the city’s students and the people who live in the surrounding community.”

Tom Brewerton, Group Development Director at Unite Students, comments:

“We’re excited to reach another important milestone at Central Quay and a step closer to next year’s completion.

“This new property will significantly increase the supply of high quality, affordable accommodation in Glasgow, supporting the growth of our university partners.

“We’re continuing to take a disciplined approach to off campus development and accelerating our alignment with the UK’s strongest universities.”
