Minister Lilian Greenwood visits Dyecoats Site to Champion Drinkaware and THINK! Campaign

GRAHAM welcomed Local Transport Minister, Lilian Greenwood MP to its Dyecoats site earlier this month, as part of its ongoing commitment to improving safety and wellbeing in the construction industry.

The visit highlighted GRAHAM’s support for the ongoing partnership between the Government’s THINK! campaign, Drinkaware and the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) which raises awareness among those in construction of the risks of drink driving.

The partnership supports the THINK! Drink a little, risk a lot campaign, which highlights the risks of even a small amount of alcohol before driving – including the potential to lose your licence and the impact this could have on construction workers.

During her visit, Minister Greenwood viewed bespoke campaign materials displayed in the site canteen and public areas, while also engaging in informal discussions with site workers about the positive impact of the initiative. The conversation also explored the importance of reinforcing these messages within the construction sector and Drinkaware’s wider work on alcohol-related harm reduction.

Minister Greenwood’s visit reflects GRAHAM’s proactive approach to promoting safety and wellbeing. By disseminating these important messages across our site, GRAHAM is helping to tackle drink driving and support a healthier, safer workforce – ultimately contributing to improved productivity and industry standards.

Local Transport Minister, Lilian Greenwood, said: “Driving under the influence of alcohol puts everyone at risk and every drink drive collision represents a preventable tragedy. This partnership between THINK!, Drinkaware and the Considerate Constructors Scheme is helping get the message out that it’s not worth risking your licence, your job or your own or someone else’s life for a pint.”

Stephen Van den Hoek, GRAHAM Regional Director, said: “Supporting the Drink a little, risk a lot campaign is an important part of our commitment to safety and wellbeing. We’re proud that our proactive approach is being recognised at a national level. Minister Greenwood’s visit highlights the positive impact of our efforts and the importance of collaboration in driving this message forward. We are also delighted that Dyecoats has been nominated for an award at the CCS National Site Awards later this year in recognition of our commitment to best practice.”

Jo Rieny, Regional Lead Risk and Compliance Officer at CCS, said: “The visit highlighted the positive influence that well designed behavioural campaigns can have across construction. Hearing directly from the THINK! and Drinkaware teams brought important insight into the challenges around alcohol awareness and the practical steps companies can take to support their workforce. It was clear on site that GRAHAM is genuinely embodying responsible behaviour, taking the campaign beyond compliance and turning it into day-to-day practice. Initiatives like this show how the industry can collectively raise standards and look after the people who keep our projects moving.”
