We’re delighted to be making good progress with the transformation of the University of Manchester’s iconic Fallowfield Campus as part of the Viridis Consortium, alongside Equitix and Derwent FM.
With the demolition of Owens Park Tower complete, we’re now entering the next phase of construction.
This redevelopment will ultimately deliver 3,300 modern, sustainable student bedspaces, vibrant amenity areas and green spaces, creating five distinct neighbourhoods and a central hub that celebrates the rich local heritage. It underpins the University of Manchester’s strategic objectives within the Residences Redevelopment Programme and will deliver major redevelopment of the Fallowfield Campus, marking a step change in the quality of accommodation and creating an unrivalled student experience.
Designed by Sheppard Robson and supported by Deloitte, the development is targeting Passivhaus standards and BREEAM excellent certification, aligning with the University’s vision for a greener, more sustainable future.
Neil McFarlane, Strategic Development Director at GRAHAM Investment Projects commented:
“The commencement of the enabling works phase of this transformational University of Manchester project is a major milestone. The enabling works process involves preparing the site for the subsequent construction of the buildings at the Fallowfield Campus. Close collaboration with the University, our development partner, Equitix, architect, Sheppard Robson, and planning consultants, Deloitte, has been key to reaching this pivotal stage of the project. High quality design and sustainability principles have been embedded into every aspect of the scheme, which is arguably the largest purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) project in Europe. We now look forward to achieving full planning approval, and then beginning the main works construction programme in 2026.”
Hugh Crossley, CEO at Equitix said:
