Candleriggs Quarter, Glasgow

Candleriggs Quarter is a new build development comprising a mixture of studios 1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed and penthouses across three buildings of up to 16 storeys with a gym, residents’ lounge, games room and retail space. Residents can enjoy the communal landscaped courtyard in addition to a range of roof terraces giving views across the city.

Works included concrete cores and frames, brickwork and rainscreen glazing systems, internal fit-out, finishes and services installations, landscaping to new facilities and associated public realm. We worked collaboratively with the client and design team to deliver the development on time, within budget whilst satisfying the planning conditions and quality aspirations of the client. The existing listed building on site was demolished, however as part of the development we retained the existing facade by dismantling and re-erecting it and integrating it with the new building. We worked with a specialist conservation consultant to dismantle the facade. We then repaired and repointed the original stonework off-site to match the original design before safely transporting the facade back to site to be reassembled. GRAHAM successfully delivered this complex engineering challenge of integrating modern building systems with older building structures/components to maintain the architectural and historical heritage of the former 140 Trongate listed building.
