Silverburn Shopping Centre

Employing innovative 3D modelling, and featuring the manipulation of over 1800 tonnes of steel in the construction process, our widely-acclaimed redevelopment of the Hammerson Silverburn Shopping Centre has delivered a first-class leisure and retail facility for Glasgow. One of Scotland’s largest shopping destinations, with over 14 million visitors per year, the £17.3 million Silverburn project has provided expansive new retail space, a 14-screen cinema, a bingo facility and eight catering units.

The Phase 3 design and construction of Silverburn comprised the demolition of the last remaining, dilapidated section of the former Pollock Centre prior to the construction of its exciting new facilities, which now house a 14-screen cinema, eight new restaurants, improved bingo facilities, an administration centre and a host of retail units.

Over 1800 tonnes of steel were utilised to create the frame for the 10,900m2 extension in one of the most technically challenging, and eye-catching, structures, which we have ever delivered.

Awarded gold status by Hammerson in recognition of our commitment to sustainability, this major retail and leisure redevelopment was also in receipt of the Silver Green Apple Award in the ‘Habitat and Wildlife’ category at the Scottish Environment Awards.

The 17-month extension project incorporated sustainable procurement elements including 100% recycled aggregates, 100% recyclable aluminium glazing and Kooltherm environmentally friendly insulation.
