Located at the intersection of the M2 and A249 in Kent, the upgraded junction now provides a critical link between the Isle of Sheppey, Maidstone, and the M20 motorway, which links Dover to London and Sheerness. The M2 Junction 5 scheme was ranked best in the southeast by National Highways in a recent
customer audit review, November 2023.

Project Detail

The Stockbury roundabout has become a grade-separated junction with the A249 flying over the roundabout on two single-span bridges and approach embankments. The Maidstone Road connection to Stockbury Roundabout has been closed, and a new Maidstone Road link has been provided, connecting to Oad Street north of the M2. The upgraded junction now provides a critical link between the Isle of Sheppey, Maidstone, and the M20 motorway, which connects Dover to London and Sheerness.
