GRAHAM has appointed a new Business Development Director for the Midlands as it continues to build its project portfolio in the region.
GRAHAM has appointed James Bravington to the role, succeeding John Maguire, the first person the company employed in the region, who retired after nearly a decade with the business.
James joins GRAHAM from BAM Construction, where he spent more than two decades, progressing from Assistant Quantity Surveyor to Senior Surveyor before becoming the firm’s Business Development Manager.
In his new role, he will lead business development across the Midlands, building on GRAHAM’s strong track record and the momentum of live projects in the healthcare, education and residential sectors to secure new opportunities across the region.
GRAHAM recently completed a new clinical building at Birmingham Children’s Hospital through NHS England’s ProCure23 framework, increasing surgical capacity and providing advanced clinical facilities for children and young people across the region.
The business also restored Birmingham’s Grade II listed Grand Hotel, bringing it back into use as a 185-bedroom hotel while retaining its historic character. GRAHAM also delivered Enterprise Wharf, a £30.4m, 120,000 sq ft smart office building at Birmingham’s Knowledge Quarter for Bruntwood SciTech.
Its completed projects also include i9, a 52,000 sq ft Grade A office development at Wolverhampton’s Interchange for Ion, The Barnum, a 348-home build-to-rent scheme in Nottingham for Grainger plc, and True Nottingham, a £70m, 661-bed student accommodation scheme at a former Royal Mail sorting office for Bricks Group.
Current projects include a £59m purpose-built student accommodation scheme at Loughborough University, providing 552 bedspaces, a £37m redevelopment of Castle Rock School in Coalville for the Department for Education, and the £45m City Centre Cultural Gateway in Coventry, converting a former IKEA store into a landmark arts and culture hub for partners including Arts Council England, the British Council and Coventry University.
Ronan Hughes, Regional Director for the Midlands at GRAHAM, said:
John was our first appointment in the Midlands and has played a defining role in establishing GRAHAM in the region. He leaves with our thanks and very best wishes.
James’s appointment is an important step in our ambitions for the Midlands. We’re delivering across a range of sectors and see considerable scope to grow. He brings the experience, relationships and understanding of the market to turn that ambition into new work and lasting client partnerships.
James Bravington, Business Development Director for the Midlands at GRAHAM, said:
The Midlands has a strong pipeline of opportunities across the public and private sectors, with clients looking for partners who understand their priorities and can help bring complex projects forward.
GRAHAM has a strong track record in the region. I’m looking forward to building on that experience, strengthening existing relationships and developing new partnerships that respond to where the sector is heading.
